A DAY IN THE ORCHARDS

MARKET-MILLER ORCHARD

As most of you might have guessed, Fall is my absolute favorite season! I love everything about it; the colors, the weather, the yummy cinnamon scents! One of my favorite Fall activities is apple picking! Our favorite spot is Market Miller Orchard- about an hour from us. It is a gorgeous drive out and never too crowded.

PRACTICAL INFO:

Directions: From I-81, exit 310 onto Route 37 north. Proceed approximately 2 miles to the Opequon exit. Turn left on Route 622. Go 2 miles to village of Opequon. Turn left across bridge, then 1-1/4 miles on the left.

The parking lot is in the front, it is grass so keep that in mind. No parking fee which is awesome!

To pick the apples, you pay by the bag. There is small, medium, and large available; between $6-8. We always get the small and it is more than enough apples for us. They will give you a map that shows where the different kinds of apples are located. There were Rome, Red delicious, and Ida Red.

They have a huge play-ground area for children, and a miniature train ride around the orchard! But the one thing we like to do is explore the farm store. They have freshly made apple cider donuts and assortments of delicious jams, salsas, syrups, and many more!

There are two pavilions available with plenty of seating, if you choose to bring a picnic! There is also a BBQ place, next to the farm shop. We had the food last year and it was delicious!

WHAT TO DO WITH THE APPLES:

I tried this year to make apple chips…The recipe I used is below! Let me know how if you try it!

I also LOVE to make an apple pie out of the fresh picked apples! I make it with a crumpled top and it is heaven in your mouth!!
