Ultimate Packing Guide For A Carry-On

If you are someone that travels often and likes to save time. Or like to save on your budget by not checking a bag, this is for you! I have always struggled with over-packing. What if I leave something behind and end up needing it? Over the years of traveling, I have learned that I don’t always need to bring everything. If there are any emergencies items I need, there is always a store nearby. It is so much easier to pack a small carry-on rather than a large suitcase. Plus I do like to save a few dollars by not checking a bag. (Plus there is no stress on if you lose your luggage or not). Here is the perfect guide on how to pack for a carry-on.

Carry On:

The suitcase I use most is the “Samsonite Solyte Softside Spinner” (in purple). This is my favorite suitcase as there are so many pockets and storage. It also comes in two other sizes. ( if you care to have your luggage match). To be honest though, sometimes the larger, overnight European flights can get a bit full. So I carry it through security, but generally, check it at the gate – free of charge. Travel hack!

Want to save time and money? Use a smaller suitcase while you travel. What you will need:

Packing cubes – These are my favorite things to use! They help me stay organized and keep my clothes separated. Meaning I have one cube for my warmer weather clothes. Another for my cooler weather clothes. I also have an additional two, one for my PJs. The other is for a towel, washcloth, and pillowcase.

Toiletry bag – I just recently found the most perfect bag to use for toiletries. This one is just perfect! It has four compartments plus a hook to hang the bag. The two compartments have tighter rings to hold your smaller items. Pro tip: you can reuse Bath and Body Works travel-size containers like shampoo, conditioner, and even lotions.

Heat protecting case for hair tools – I take this everywhere with me. It is important to protect your hair tools. Also, if you are in a rush to leave in the morning, you can put this in the case while it is still warm.

Extras:

Laundry bag – I actually have one in each suitcase I pack. I love having a large bag to keep my dirty clothes separated from my clean clothes. Plus as soon as I get home I can throw it all in the wash! I can also use it over and over and not have to throw it out each time I use it. (Instead of using plastic grocery bags).

Slippers – I started packing slippers to wear around the hotel. I mean you never know what could be crawling around on those hotel floors. Or what other feet have been walking around on them. In all seriousness, I like to keep my socks clean.

Bag for shoes – I started packing this after taking a trip to Arizona. There was so much dust on my shoes it got all over my other things. So from then on, I have packed a small back to cover my shoes. Plus you never know what you could step on.

What to pack:

Cube 1 – I use this first cube for warmer weather clothing. I pack at least four t-shirts, plus two pairs of shorts. For the warmer weather, I like to pack a few sundresses as well. For a fancy dinner or some cute Insta photos!

Cube 2 – I use this second cube for cooler weather clothing. I pack no more than two pairs of jeans or pants. And four long sleeves shirts. You can mix and match the tops and pants. By doing this you could have eight different outfits.

Cube 3 – In this cube, I pack my comfy clothes, PJs, socks, etc. I also keep my airport outfit in here. I like to wear comfortable pants and something warm as the plane always tends to be on the colder side.

Cube 4 – I always like to pack a towel for myself. I am a bit of a germaphobe and rather would use my own towel and washcloth rather than the hotels. For the same purpose I also like to pack my own pillowcase.

I hope you have enjoyed this blog! Packing is one of my favorite parts of traveling. But sometimes it can be a struggle. Plus it is ever-changing as the destinations change. After reading this blog you are more prepared for any destination and only have to pack a carry-on!
