Marketing Tactics To Increase Traffic To Your Travel Blog

So, you have your blog, you have been posting, and you have implemented the tools to help your blog succeed, you think now what? What am I doing to get readers to my blog and maintain those views? What more can I do to get my blog noticed?

The answer is marketing! This is a huge part of what makes your blog succeed! I wish I could go back to when I first started blogging and do a better job at marketing. But I am here now and can share my knowledge with you! Another great way is networking with other bloggers…but we will get to that soon!

Pinterest

Pinterest is my favorite tool for marketing my blog! Before I started blogging, I used to spend hours on Pinterest, looking up fashion, home décor, and things to do for travel! So, I am sure other people are doing the same thing! It is such a great tool to utilize for growing your blog! Not to mention, it is fun!

First things first, you need a Pinterest account! Make sure you set it up as a business account, so you can view the analytics. Be sure to add and claim your blog site as well.

Now that you have your account, it is time to create some boards. I have boards for each destination we have traveled to, such as Portugal, Scotland, Spain, etc. I also have boards for the USA travel, as well as packing guides, and a foodie board! I added sections on those boards, if needed, so everything remains nice and neat. Make sure you have the board filled out, the name of the board, a description with keywords about the board, and add a topic. To make your page look more aesthetically pleasing, choose a cover for your board!

Another great tool to utilize with collaboration boards. This is where you request to join, add your pins, share others’ pins, and your pins will get shared in return.

Creating Pins

So, you have a Pinterest account, and boards, but no pins! The best way to create pins is through an app called Canva. It is easy to use and even has social media templates ready for your use! I recommend always having your pins vertical, this will be aesthetically pleasing to your viewers. I always create two pins for each post, and put them at the bottom of my post, that way my readers can easily share my blog! Be sure to write an enticing description for your pin and link your blog!

Tailwind

Another great tool to utilize with Pinterest is Tailwind. This is essentially a scheduling tool for Pinterest. When I first joined, my views increased by 6,250%. I was stunned! If you want your blog to succeed on Pinterest, I highly recommend joining Tailwind. It is free for the first 30 days. Click here to join!

One awesome thing I love about Tailwind is the sharing tool. Tailwind allows you to join ‘tribes’ – a group within your niche where you post your pins. In turn, you will share and re-pin your fellow members’ content and they will do the same for you!

Instagram

Instagram is probably my favorite social media platform! I love sharing photos and engaging in others’ pics! It is where I find my travel and blogging inspiration too! Instagram is a great platform to connect and network with others. There are giveaways, shoutouts, and many other opportunities to collab with others!

There are a few ways on Instagram that I use to market my blog.

First, when I publish a new post on my blog, I will usually post a picture on Instagram to let others know it is there! I will tell them to check out the link in my bio in my caption.

Another place I market my blog is Instagram stories, I try to do at least 4 stories a day, and try to have 1 of those lead back to my blog.

If you want to further market your blog, another great tool to use through Instagram is ads. If you think of your blog as a business, other businesses have a specific budget for ads. Now, I don’t recommend going crazy with them, but if you are introducing a new product, service, or blog series, ads are such a useful tool!

Hootsuite

Another great scheduling tool to utilize is Hootsuite. I use this to schedule my previous blog posts, just to keep them refreshed on my Facebook page or Twitter. You can also utilize Hootsuite in Facebook groups. I use them when I want to create a specific chat with fellow bloggers, but I can be traveling and not have to worry about sitting down to post something. There is a free version of Hootsuite that can be used that works great!

Facebook

Facebook is making a comeback! I used to do nothing on Facebook with my blog, but I noticed more and more bloggers were utilizing Facebook as another tool to market their brand. I started with creating a page for my blog (this is linked to my Instagram account). Every time I post a picture on Instagram, I have it set to where it will post automatically to my page. I will also post my new blog posts there too.

Another great tool to utilize is Facebook groups! This is where you can truly build your blogging network! I have joined several Facebook groups; including blogging tips, travel tips, and networking for bloggers!

Here are a few to join:

*Traveling Destinations – a great group where you can learn tips and tricks for blogging. You do not have to be a travel blogger to join!
